73 We are one in the spirit
17 We are together again,
160 As we gather,
205 A common love,
283 Let us exalt his name together
Does anyone know the meaning behind praying together? (Discussion Time)
Praying with others enhances its benefits by:
demonstrating God's presence
building the discipline to pray.
creating spiritual intimacy with others.

causing growth in each other
following the example set in Scripture by Jesus, His disciples, and the early church (Luke 9:28, Acts 1:14, Acts 2:42).
Verses;

For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst (explain)
Hebrews 10:25
Not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

Reminds Milton Monell, director of the Global Prayer Movement,

Just claim the promise of;
1 John 5:14,15, (Select members to read aloud their version)
“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”
Praying for yourself; (pray as an individual but in a group)
Request individual members to pray a short conversational prayer for their loved ones and friends with confidence that ‘He will hear and answer our prayers as He promised’.
(if there are 10members, we will hear all of it)
Learning how to pray for each other; (pray for each other in a group)
- Write down their names on small pieces of paper, fold it and place it in a bowl
- Allow each member to draw one folded paper from the bowl
- They will then pray for the person whom they have drawn
Then, explain further on why we pray together;
Because when we do we are strengthened and blessed together!
· Because when God is central to our lives, we can bring peace to ourselves and to others.
· Because God is LOVE and we need him to re-source our love when we get “used up”.
· Because Jesus promised that when two agree together and pray to His Father, He will listen and answer them. (Matt 18 v 19-20)
· Because praying in unity with our partner while hundreds of other couples are praying similarly; we can be one of the ways through which God will bring change to our society.
Closing
No matter our level of spiritual maturity, connecting with God is important.
Prayer is a unique and vibrant way to experience that connection in our daily lives.
That connection can also be deepened as we pray together.
